Ha!Ha!Ha! I heard some funny speeches. Overall, good application to the five techniques of humor. Post your critique here. Please sure to give at least three examples of three different techniques that were heard in the speech. Identify the technique and then, follow up with the application heard in the speech.

The speaker that I critiqued was Lavenus Washington. There are five techniques of humor in which she used three. I liked how she used old email forwards and the jokes contained in them, it is something we can all relate too. Throughout the entire speech she did not use herself but other sources. She built the bridge with her top 5 and she used the element of surprise with the picture of the babies, saying she imagined her brother. And the taxi, which looked like a barrel on wheels, she related this with her mom.

Overall, she did a good job. She made the class laugh. She can reduce the looking at the screen and raise her voice but it was still good.

The speaker I critiqued was Jammar Lim. He talked about his vacation to Jamaica, which in the end turned out to be the worst. He did good with creating an introduction, which made the audience want to listen. In addition, out of the five techniques of humor, I found that he used four.
1. Using Yourself- He talked about different experiences he had while in Jamaica which made it unpleasant.
2. Using Other Sources- He incorporated family members such as, his grandmother, father, mother, and etc, in order to make his stories more appealing.
3. Building Bridges- His whole speech flowed in story form.
4. Element of Surprise- I like when he used the accent of his grandmother, because I'm sure the class wasn't expecting that, and it made the story more imaginable.

Overall I think Jammar did a good job. He used a topic that a lot people could relate to. If he had a PowerPoint it would have been more visual, which would have been better for the audience and probably would have added more humor through the technique of element of surprise.

The speaker i critiques was Shameer. Out of the 5 techniques of humor he used other sources/ others. I felt like he did not built bridges because his speech was too short. He did not have an introduction nor a conclusion.. other then that i thought he would have had a great entertainment speech.

I critiqued Destyne Pitts' entertainment speech. I noticed her useage of four of the five techniques of humor. First, she used herself and others - for example, she used herself and me in an everyday situation, which was funny. She used other sources: her youtube video tied into her speech well. She built bridges: she connected "random thoughts" to "stupid questions," which was the focal point of her speech. She also used the element of surprise with her description of batteries, and we also didn't expect that she was going to say she was from Trenton. All of these everyday experiences were funny because her speech flowed nicely and each technique was utilized correctly. She had a thorough and unique conclusion. Destyne's thorough eye contact, conversational speaking voice and level of comfort in front of an audience all contributed to the success of her speech. Very entertaining!

Harry did pretty well on his entertainment speech. In his speech I heard him use four of the five techniques of humor. He used himself when he talked about being robbed, he used other sources when he talked about the aquarium in Camden, and he brought in the element of surprise when he he talked about Ashley sending food to the poor in Camden and then asking him if he received any. He built bridges nicely which made everything flow very well.
If his speech would have been a little longer then it would have been great. Overall I think he did a good job with keeping the audience's attention and delivering the message.

I critiqued Brandon Diaz. I found his speech to be very entertaining. He used some of the elements of humor. For instance, he used himself and others, relating his experience at Shop Rite in connection with elderly consumers that come in thoughout the day. He built bridges, but I thought he could of found a way to make the different scenarios flow more smoothly. I thought he incorporated an element of suprise when he spoke about old people and their prices. It was hilarious! The power point added to his speech. It made what he was trying to convey even more clear and interesting. I found the picture to be funny and clever.
His delivery was a little convoluted. He really needs to workk on his diction and articulation. It was a little difficult understanding what he was trying to communicate. Overall, I enjoyed his entertainment speech.

The speaker that I am critiquing is Diandra Soto. In her entertainment speech she compared the city that she use to live in (New York) and the suburban town that she now lives in. Her speech was great she used 4 out of the 5 techniques of humor. Diandra used other people as she talked about how crowded New York is. She used herself as she talked about holding up traffic on the sidewalk. She built bridges as she went from joke to joke. Finally Diandra used the element of surprised as she was delivering the punch line. Her speech was very good the only thing that I believe that she needed help on was the jokes they weren’t that funny, but besides that it was all good.

I chose to critique Ashley Perez. Her performanc was outstanding in every way possible. She had many stories and examples that made he presentation come together perfectly. She built bridges ina way that was very clear and understandable which made her jokes more clear and funny. Her conclusion was gret and it made her presentation conclude smoothly.

I chose brandon diaz. He used his expierences at his job at shoprite. There were alot of places where he could have explanded upon the ideas he had. I thought his powerpoint assisted with the humor. He built some bridges and used the element of surprise very well. Things he could have improved upon was the eye contact and more examples of customers and the anecdotes he expierences.
