President Obama trip to New Jersey

Listening in a public speaking situation is important. Listening can teach us how to become better speakers and become knowledgeable in important issues among other things. Please comment in this post after you have returned from your outing at the PNC Arts Center to hear President Obama and Governor Corzine speak. I want to know what techniques did you hear being used by either of these speakers ( or, if another is present) that illustrated a message being adapted specifically to a college audience? What was the message? How was it achieved? Topic? Supporting Details? Delivery? Or something else? Be specific. You need to tie your comments directly information evidenced in the speech. Really listening teaches us many things...and can really open up new perspectives....What did you listen to?

During the presentations today at PNC Arts Center, Governor Corzine, President Obama, and Dana Red spoke. Each of the speakers gave incredible speeches. Dana Red, took the audience in with her questions and cause to make us cheer and yell. She got as all very excited to hear the next two speakers. Governor Corzine, mentioned a lot about better health care for children and families, as well as additional money for educational reasons. He had a great tone and spoke clearly. His use of words also helped capture the audience. Corzine had introduced President, Barack Obama in a very enthusiastic way and had everyone yelling for him in excitement. The last speaker was of course, Obama. I do not even know where to begin. Barack Obama’s speech was very formal, yet he made sure all ages would engage into what he was saying. He was very real with us and told us honest opinions. Barack had told us facts to back up the Governor. When he first brought up Governor Corzine he had said, “…is in the house!” which was something a teenager would say. He also noticed how scorching hot we all were in the crowd and had said it during his speech, “It’s a little hot in here…” and he took off the jacket to his suit. He made us all laugh but he really told us some interesting facts about Health Care and education. Especially college education and how important it is. Each speaker had incredible eye contact, used their hands to capture us, and spoke clearly. I truly enjoyed each of their speeches although I did not think I would. The only complaint I could even have was the heat but even that could not have taken anything away from the way all three of these incredible human beings spoke.

The rally today was, for me, a very memorable moment. Three people stoke today: Dana Red, Governor Corzine and President Obama. Dana Red was a very enthusiastic speaker. She connected to the audience and did a great job introducing the other speakers. In the audience, there were a lot of young, college kids so she connected with us by saying, “I’m so glad to see so many new and young faces.” It was a good thing that she went first because she acted as an attention grabber for the next two people. The next speaker was Governor Corzine. Governor Corzine mostly talked about President Obama but that was the strategy he used to get people to vote for him. He talked about how important it is that our Governor has a connection in the White House and how this will help us a lot in the future; Corzine even called him a friend. He also connected very well with the audience, he started off with ,“Hello New Jersey!” which of course made the listeners go crazy. He was also very thankful for everyone that was there and even said, “God Bless you all”. Last but not least was President Obama, who was obviously the start of the show. Everyone was extremely excited to see him and he, of course, got the loudest cheer. It is very obvious to see why he was elected president; He is an extremely great speaker. He was very personable with the people. When he first started he said it was little hot and took off his jacket and rolled up he’s sleeves. This made him very human to us because it was extremely hot. He had awesome hand gestures, some were aggressive when he wanted to get his point across and some were gentle when he was talking about more “to the heart” subjects. Ever all, this was an awesome experience and I’ll probably always be telling my children about seeing the first black president in person.

Today, all of the students and staff of EOP attended a rally at PNC Arts Center, where Dana Red, Governor Corzine, and President Obama presented. Each one of these speakers had strong presentations based on Governor Corzine’s reelection in November and health care reform for America. Dana Red was the first speaker at today’s rally and grabbed the audience’s attention, a mix between seniors, adults, children, and higher education students, by asking questions that made the audience feel as if today was the time for change across New Jersey and America. For example, one of her first questions asked was in the realm of who knew what Governor Corzine and President Barack Obama stood for, and the answer was reform. Red jump-started the message that New Jersey was going to experience relief through action with President Obama and the reelection of Governor Corzine. After the introduction, Governor Corzine came up to speak and he furthered the message, but President Obama took it home. With his engaging personality, attitude, and voice, President Obama took the audience by storm. He constantly kept eye contact and a conversational tone with the audience throughout his speech. Obama mentioned that there was going to be public health insurance that would cut down the United States deficit, that the one-hundred and seventeen million dollars being given to the insurance companies to take care of the patients was going to actually be dispersed in a manner to provide great, affordable care for everybody, and though these tasks would be difficult, he would not stop trying, etc. I, as part of the audience, listened to this part of the rally because I can associate closely to the negatives of having either a costly, horrible, or no insurance plan. President Obama connected with me through his use of examples of those in America who suffer from having no, poor, or costly health insurance. Such as the woman in Colorado who had to pay for her own breast cancer treatment because her insurance would not, even though she was paying $700 a month to be insured. Health insurance is a big issue in today’s society and Barack Obama’s presentation really caught everyone’s attention, including the thousands of college students who attended the rally. Today’s rally was truly an amazing experience.

Today we went to the rally and it was a very memorable moment for me. Most of us went there just to see president Obama. The rally started off with Dana Red, her opening speech was very enthusiastic her attention grabber was very nice, she made sure that everybody was paying attention to her. She introduced the choir, which made the audience be active and wait for the next speakers. The main point in her speech was to introduce the next two speakers: Corzine and Obama. Corzine`s speech was short and his topic was to introduce Obama and persuade people to vote for him. He also mention in his speech that he and Obama were more than coworkers they were friends. The only thing that I noticed about Corzine in his speech was that he kept swinging around while he was talking but he did not do it so obvious like I did on my first speech. His connectives worked very accordingly to introduce Obama. When Obama came out, the audience was very excited. The first move he made was that he took off his jacket, which I believe was his visual attention grabber. He delivered his speech with energy, and that same energy was transmitted to every single one of us. His speech focused on two main things: to improve Health care and to vote for Corzine. His speech inspired me in many ways and it made me want to improve my speech skills.

Today was very special to me. I saw Obama speak live at the PNC Arts Center. Dana Read and John Corzine spoke before Obama did. They both basically got the crowd wild and ready to hear Obama deliver his speech. I was thrilled watching the president of the United States speak. It was breath taking. He got up to the podium and began his speech with such a demanding voice. He took off his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves. His topic was informative and persuasive. His message was about the health care situation in New Jersey. I didnt really hear him quite clearly but yet I heard some questions he ask. "How many of you are struggling to put bread on the table?" "This is the longest recession since the 1930's". The crowd could relate to the topic because we are citizens of New Jersey. When Obama incooperated his audience by asking questions, the crowd will go wild. He spoke loud and clear and he used his hands very well. He pointed to the crowd and he was very serios. I loved the experience of being one of the many in the presence of Obama.

Today the EOP students and staff went to Governor Corzine’s Rally featuring Barack Obama, the President, and Dana Red. Dana Red spoke first and she had a very strong and forceful voice. She commanded the stage and kept her audience intrigued (I guess that is why they put her first). Dana Red was the “attention grabber”. She introduced Gov. Corzine and provided some facts as to what he has done as a Governor of New Jersey and what he plans to do if he is reelected. The next speaker was Governor Corzine and he discussed how happy he was to be in the PNC Arts Center and seeing all the people out to support the event. He stressed how important it was for the people of New Jersey to reelect him and how he was so excited to have Barack Obama in the PNC Arts Center with him. The next speaker was The President but before he came out they had modern music playing to get the crowd started. The DJ had music for all generations so the people would feel included and figure the rally was not all about politics. Then President Obama came out to speak and the crowd went wild for about 2 minutes. He had on his usual suit with his red tie. Obama talked about health care and all the changes that Gov. Corzine has made thus far. Since he has been the Governor students’ have produced better in math and writing and 80,000 more children have health care. When Obama speaks he speaks so clearly and so calmly, like he is having an actual conversation. It was great for me to have that experience and opportunity and I am grateful for that. I really enjoyed my time today and the event I witnessed today.

Today July 16, 2009 was an amazing day to me. I had the privilege and honor to see two very important men, Governor Jon Corzine and President Barrack Obama. It was such an amazing experience that words just could not describe. Interestingly enough many of the concepts that have been lectured and taught to us were clearly highlighted. I never really notice how so many bits and pieces to speaking could create such a strong message. Throughout the speeches Governor Jon Corzine spoke about how he is already and wishes to continue to make New Jersey better. He spoke about how he has helped put forth 80,000 new insurance policies for children and how he has made New Jersey the strongest state in the recession. At the same time Corzine illustrated many great features for a speaker. For instance, he had a strong voice, great points, kept the attention of the audience, and great eye contact. However, he had what I felt was too much hand movement. But other than that he was great. Then President Barrack Obama came out. When he entered that stage you could feel the change within the audience and his gaze into the audience just was undescribable. When President Obama spoke it was amazing. The way he addressed issues, changed his tone of voice, and just presented made you feel important. It made you feel like he was talking directly to you. During the President's speech he spoke about how Jon Corzine is a good choice to have as New Jersey's Governor and then he touched about the issues of healthcare. He spoke about how he wished to change it because he feels healthcare should be given to everyone. In my opinion President Obama is truly an excellent presenter he truly held the interest of everyone. All in all it was truly an honor to see such powerful speakers.

Today we went to PNC bank arts center for the Obama Corzine rally. It’s a day that we are all going to remember forever, I’m glad we had the opportunity to attend. There were three speakers today, Dana Red, Governor Corzine, and President Obama. Most of the people went just to see Obama, but the other two speakers spoke well too. Today started with Dana Red followed by Governor Corzine. They both did an excellent job. They were very engaging with the audience, mentioning how there are people of all ages out there. They made sure to get the audiences attention. When Governor Corzine announced President Obama coming out the audience all cheered. President Obama involved the crowd into his speech from the very beginning. At the beginning he said how it was very hot and he took off his jacket. Throughout his speech he talked about healthcare and its importance. He feels it is something all Americans should be able to receive, and it should be equal, not certain people with poor healthcare. Also throughout his speech President Obama had a good tone to his voice. He made himself louder during certain times, and did not keep the same monotone voice like some people do. That helped in making sure people keep their attention on him.

Today the EOP students went to see the rally for the Governor John Corzine to be elected again in November. The people who presented a speech at this rally were Dana Red, Governor John Corzine, and President Barack Obama. All the people who presented grabbed the attention of the audience. Dana Red named statements about the former President George W. Bush and how he did not help the United States. She also mentioned that Governor John Corzine and President Barack Obama were friends, and if the President is able to come to Corzine’s rally then he should be re-elected, because he is doing something right in New Jersey. The next presenter was Governor John Corzine. Corzine began his speech by saying that President Barack Obama is here. When he said this it grabbed the audiences’ attention to the stage and cautioned everyone to pay attention to him. Then he began speaking about the friendship that he has with Obama. Also he spoke about how he recovered the United States from the mess that George W. Bush put us in. Finally the moment that the whole audience has been waiting for was here, Barack Obama came on to the stage and the crowd was on there feet applauding for their President of the United States. Obama first got the crowds attention when he said it was hot out here and took off his suit jacket. Everyone laughed and from there his speech touched the lives of thousands of people. Obama mention his new reform for healthcare. This healthcare policy is to give everyone inexpensive healthcare to people all over the United States. Obama touched on the topic of more jobs for people who lost them from the recession. The audiences connected to that because many people cheered as he elaborated on this topic. Providing money for education is what Obama said that he would do because since Corzine as been elected governor, New Jersey has been in the lead for the subjects of math and reading. The last thing that really touched me heart is when Obama said that he reads ten letters from Americans everyday. One letter was about a woman in Colorado who has breast cancer and her insurance gave up on her. Obama states that she felt as if she was paying for her own death. Obama’s speech was powerful captivating, and memorable. Being able to hear Obama was been a great experience.

Today we went to PNC Art Center, where we were listening to John Corzine who is the governor of New Jersey and Barack Obama, the president of The United States of America. Unfortunately I missed the speech of Dana Red. Governor Corzine tried to persuade the audience to vote for him, he was explaining job issues, that he will create more job opportunities. Also one of the most important for us students, he talked about building more schools so everyone could have a chance to educate themselves. He also mentioned that health care should be more universal. The governor was pretty convincing, however I did not hear him very well, his voice was a little bit suppressed. When governor Corzine finished his speech, president Barack Obama came in and made the audience raise. He made a big impression on me with his speech. The first thing that caught my attention was that from the formal speech he made it very friendly, and warm. First of all he was very relaxed, when he came on the podium and took off the jacket. President Obama have told us about his cooperation with the governor of New Jersey, and how great leader he was. Obama acknowledged us how great leader Cortez was and how they worked together on the recovery plan and fixing the economy. He mentioned that he wants to help any race not only one, because everyone is equal and no one should stay behind. He also talked about health insurances, how every child should get health care. President Obama was very confident about his goals and with his strong voice grabbed everyones attention. I am very glad i could attend such an event.

"I don't want to go Washington too quick on anyone", this was Barack Obama's way of establishing a connection with his audience, a way of expressing his humbleness. The main topic of discussion in President Obama's speech today during the Corzine/ Obama Rally was health care. This issue was an important topic during his presidential campaign and is one of the essential aspects in his opinion, of navigating our way out of this recession. Being a college student, I was greatly impacted by the words spoken by the single man who makes some of the biggest decisions regarding my future. President Obama often speaks about the future but he does it in a way that evokes excitement and optimism. The future is my most important concern. When he speaks of the future he talks about the nations children and grand children and how important it is that we build the foundation to lead our future generations into a prosperous and economically sound direction. President Obama backed up his statements with hard facts, 14,000 americans lose their health coverage daily. By connecting with the crowd, addressing his ideas in an honest, intelligent manner, and building excitement by varying his pitch and volume President Obama gave me chills and left me truly believing in his message and in our nation.

Today EOP went to a rally in order to see President Obama speak. I can say that I was already captivated because I knew who was going to be speaking and was already exposed to the kind of speeches that he gave. When Obama came out onto the stage, he walked with eagerness and confidence like as if he was ready to give his speech. Once he began speaking I was pulled in because he asked questions. President Obama spoke clearly and his voice was so powerful that it was difficult to drift away. He brought in examples of the things that Governor Corzine did in the past which were things that were not generally known and statistics that were easily understood. He didn’t neglect the fact that there were not just elder adults in the audience but also young adults and children. The president brought in topics about school and about health care for children. He also dropped in a joke or two in order to get everyone excited. I really enjoyed President Obama’s speech and thought that it was very well done.

Today was a very great day in my life because I got to experience something a lot of people will not in their life. All of the EOP students and staff attended the Obama & Corzine rally at PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. There were three individuals who presented to the large crowd that varied in many ages. The three presenters were Dana Red, Governor John Corzine, and President Barrack Obama. The speakers all have valid topics, great posture, loud voices, and connected with the audience extremely well. Red spoke about the change of New Jersey starts today with the reelection of Corzine and the help of the president. Red spoke about what Governor John Corzine and President Barrack Obama stood for, and that is “reform”. Red started with getting the attention of all of the age groups in the Center. She was very informative; I felt conversational tone in her voice. Next was Governor Corzine he had mentioned much information about better health care for families and additional money for educational purposes. He spoke with confidence and intelligence, I felt that he spoke clearly and got the audience enthusiastic about his reelection. Finally, the last speaker was the President Barrack Obama. Although President Obama reiterated what Governor Corzine, he made it clearer to the audience on what the future is for us New Jersey residents. President Obama mentioned ratios, statistics, and also mentioned some creditable examples by naming people in the situation of health insurance for example the store owner who had to fire his employees because he couldn’t afford health insurance for them. In my eyes the speeches were all great and I enjoyed listening to all three, I never lost the focus on what they were saying because it was so informative for me the New Jersey resident but more a college student. The speeches reminded me of a game of volleyball because it was like Dana Red was the bumper and she bumped the ball to Governor Corzine and Corzine was the setter and he set the ball up for President Obama and President Obama finished it with a spike.

Yesterday all of the EOP students got an amazing opportunity to see three very influential people speak. Dana Red, Governor Corzine and our President Obama. Dana Red began the show. She was great. She got the whole audience involved and on edge to hear our Governor and our President speak. She asked us rhetorical questions which got everyone into her speech and extremely excited. Even though everyone was discouraged from the heat of the day, she managed to engage us all in her speech. Corzine spoke next. He talked a lot about health care and ways to keep costs low. He also talked about how important education is to him and how he intends to make it a lot better in New Jersey. He also, like Red, got the audience involved and engaged in what he was saying. He knew how to capture the attention of not only older people but young people as well. Of course they saved the best for last! Obama’s speech was incredible. I did not think I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. He not only involved older people in his speech but younger people too. He used lingo that we say nowadays. He spoke mainly about health care and how important college educations are, kind of like what Corzine said. Each speaker was clear and used good eye contact from what I could see the entire time of their speech. They had fantastic body language and really knew what they were doing and talking about.

During the rally both Governor Jon Corzine and President Obama gave speeches. In their speeches they both rallied against the high prices of health care. They said that high-price health care is adding to the national deficit, and hurting everybody not just the poor. Both speakers’ speeches found a foundation in statistics. They used their most amazing statistics as audience retention devises. They both spoke with conviction and enthusiasm from beginning to end, which kept their credibility with the audience strong. They had the perfect balance between conversation style speaking and informative style speaking, and ended their speech with a comment that “pumped up” the audience. Obama was so in tuned with his audience that he even knew what topics they weren’t going to find interesting, and apologized for talking about them. They did have some comments that were directly targeted at the younger voters. For instance, they both incorporated trendy sayings into their speech like “Governor so-in-so is the house!” At one point, Obama directly addressed young people, especially the ones currently in college. He spoke about the future jobs that his party is going to generate to help revitalize the economy. He mentioned the importance of educating the “young people” in order to have knowledgeable persons capable of performing these new jobs in the future. I noticed that Governor Corzine spoke with his hands effectively, but often times shifted his weight back and forth on his hips like a lot of us do in class. On a side note, in person you really realize that Obama is a charismatic and seasoned speaker. I learnt that I need to incorporate more statistics into my speeches all while making them flow more effectively as I talk to deliver a better speech.

Obama’s speech was excellent. I’ve never seen someone speak with confidence and facts as he did. Governor Corizine’s speech was well planned and was sort of an introduction to the main attraction Obama. Obama’s speech included statistics, examples, and personal examples. He also showed the need for Health Care in America. The message he illustrated to college students was that in the time of a recession us college students are needed to learn and find ways to solve these economic problems. The overall message was that Obama new health care plan was dominant over the present one. I believe that Obama’s confidence and forcefulness helped depict that message an achieve it. The supporting details about Health Care were that 80,000 children have now received health care. He also stated that his petition was growing more and more among American citizens each day and that New Jersey was the first state to adopt his new health care plan. When Obama spoke I listened to everything he said. He commanded the attention of the crowed and actually spoke with the purpose of America in mind. This speech was easily the greatest i’ve ever seen in my 18 years.

On July 16, 2009, the EOP class of 2009 took a once and a lifetime trip to the Corzine/Obama rally in Holmdel NJ. It was a great way to personally watch professional speakers do what they do best. There were three speakers at the rally whom were talking mostly about the healthcare crisis in America. It was a great learning experience being able to watch the variety of professional speakers give their speech and how they interact with the audience. My favorite speaker, of course was President Obama. His speech was well rehearsed and fluent. I was immediately engaged in his speech because of the tone in his voice. He presented it very powerfully which showed how passionate he is about the healthcare crisis we Americans are facing. When he was expressing an important point he would raise his voice, move closer to the microphone, and thrash his right hand around which got the audience pumped up every time. By doing this, chills would run down my spine and probably everyone else’s. These are the unique techniques Obama uses that all of his followers will remember for years to come. He is a true leader and inspiration. I hope to gain a lot of useful techniques from President Obama’s speech.

During the presentations on July 16,2009 at the PNC Arts Center, three officials presented to an audience backing up John Corzine for reelection in November. The first of the three presenters was Dana Red, who began with a very enthusiastic vibe that grabbed the audience from the beginning. Her speech was short and brief, followed by John Corzine. He spoke a lot about health care for children and families because of how much it has lacked in recent years. Barack Obama was the final and best speaker of the three. His presence was felt throughout the entire stadium before he even began his speech. His introduction was very attention grabbing by addressing the citizens of New Jersey with a warm greeting. He addressed current events that had occurred with the shooting of police officers in Jersey City. He then went on to speak about the main issue which was affordable health care for citizens not only in New Jersey but across the country. As part of this plan, he went on to mention how Corzine had a big helping hand in developing policies that would greatly benefit American citizens. He spoke with great amounts of energy and kept great visual contact to maintain the attention of the crowd. He concluded his speech by supporting John Corzine and encouraging residents to vote for him in the fall because of the difference he could make for everyone's benefit. All of the speakers did a fantastic job and it was easy to pay attention to what each of them had to say.

While Obama gave his speech, I heard and saw him use a lot of useful techniques. He appeared to be very comfortable during his entire speech; he made this evident when he took his blazer off. Although he is the President, he didn’t try to act like he was in higher power. He came out smiling and laughed with the audience. He also adjusted himself to the audience very well. The thing that I enjoyed the most was that he interacted with his audience. He responded to an “I love you” scream with an “I love you guys too”. By him being so comfortable and interactive on stage, he made me feel comfortable and at ease. I believe that Obama’s message was to inform us of reasons why we should vote for Governor Corzine in the upcoming elections. He achieved this message by telling us about all of the great things that Governor Corzine has done for New Jersey in the past and everything that he plans to continue to do for us. Some of his major topics were the fight for quality health care, racing to the top for education, creating green jobs, and how we will succeed in our time of renewal. He also related it well to his audience because he used specific examples of home foreclosure, unemployment rates, and college graduation rates in New Jersey. Obama also gave us a sense of power to want to change by telling us that “[change] begins here, in New Jersey, not in Washington. We’re striving for a change that’s good for everyone. We’re not talking anymore, educational, financial, and health reform will all get done. We’re moving in a new direction, laying down a new foundation, and giving people of all colors a chance to a better life.” Overall I learned a lot not only from listening to Obama and Corzine’s speech, but I also from watching how they adjusting to their audience and deliver great speeches.

During President Obama’s speech it captivated the audience. Obama grabs everyones attention not only because he is a very important person but he is talking about an issue that everyone can and will be affected, Healthcare. In his intro he uses a grabber that acknowledges key people in well known towns to make a connection with the audience. Also during his key phrases and important points there was an elevation in his voice that made everyone focus on what he was saying. For example, Obama’s fact about Jon Corzine helping 80,000 more children in New Jersey obtain health insurance. Although I was genuinely interested in what he had to say I felt myself slipping in and out of what he was saying, but during the time where he heightened his voice I regained focus immediately. Also, his topic was not dragged on longer than he needed. Obama came and said exactly everything that he needed to say without reiterating or over doing. The speech was short, sweet, and very satisfying. There was not a time where he looked at his note cards or his screen. His credibility was very strong because he did not stumble over anything he was saying and was very confident in his delivery. Obama stands straight up and either holds on to the podium slightly or using his hands creatively to add emotion to his speech. Also he creates eye contact with everyone to make sure that you feel that he is talking to you. He also finds a common name for everyone in the room, Jersey. Its easier for us to connect with him when we all have a common name. Obama was well prepared and obviously has lots of experience and practice.

During the Obama- Corzine Rally I noticed that each of the speakers had their way of connecting with the audience. There were three speakers, Dana Red was first up then we heard from Governor Corzine, and finally after all our waiting in the hot sun President Obama spoke. The speakers talked about Corzine’s reelection and the importance of reelecting him. They altered there speak towards college students by stressing how important this election is to our future. They spoke about jobs and schools, these our two of our biggest concerns right now as students seeking careers within the next four to six years. If there is no change who knows how many of us will be job less with out health care or money after graduation. They first grabbed everyone’s attention by playing modern music that young kids would like, however the DJ also played older music that the older crowd could relate to and that the younger adults would also know. In Obama’s speech I noticed that one of the first things he spoke about was the violent police shooting that took place that morning in Jersey City. I know that by speaking about this tragedy that hit so close to home for everyone he was connecting with the audience because many people’s lives in New Jersey were affected by the incident. All the speakers were great. By talking about New Jersey schools, job losses and health care he really was speaking to the entire audience.

All of the EOP students went to the PNC Bank Art Center on Thursday to watch the Obama/Corzine rally. The purpose of this rally was to get the support of New Jersey to reelect Jon Corzine as Governor. The first speaker who introduced Jon Corzine was Dana Red. She grabbed the audience’s attention by starting her speech with a question. She kept my attention by bringing up how poor of a job President George Bush did in the White House. Everyone in the audience was able to relate because they support Obama and the change he promises. I felt that she really knew her audience and was able to connect with them. She finally introduced Governor Jon Corzine with a lot of enthusiasm. Jon Corzine said what the people needed to hear. He spoke about health care and how everyone should have an equal opportunity to receive health care. All people from different age groups can relate to this topic. He knew his topic and Corzine used a lot of statistics and information. Then, Corzine introduced the President of America; President Barack Obama. The crowd screamed and roared when President Obama presented himself on the stage. He used the crowd’s energy and gave an outstanding speech. He had the audience’s attention for beginning to end. He addressed medical and educational problems and their solutions. I remember, when he was talking about the people who need health care, he used a hypothetical illustration. The example was of a woman who might have breast cancer but she didn’t have health care that covered it. All of his supporting material gave him credibility. President Obama’s delivery was also excellent. He was clear, enthusiastic and he had great eye contact. Obama is a strong speaker and he brought that rally home. Dana Red, Jon Corzine and President Obama, all were persuasive speakers and used all there abilities to try and persuade New Jersey to reelect Jon Corzine for Governor.

The speeches at PNC Arts Center on Thursday were very inspirational. I give Dana Red, President Obama, and Governor Corzine so much more credit for getting up in front in so many people after knowing how nerve racking it was for me to do it in front of just sixteen of my own peers. Dana Red's words really captured us right away. Her word choice and variation of her pitch kept our attention focused on her. When Governor Corzine brought Obama onto the stage, he did so in such a way that made the crowd go even crazier then I thought they would. Governor Corzine and President Obama were very passionate when they spoke about how everyone should be entitled affordable health care. This related to me because for a while I was without health care, and although I have it now, I understand how important it is to have as a growing adult and how important it is for it to be affordable. Obama was very clear and easy to understand. He had a very strong voice which kept me focused on exactly what he was saying. He was very enthusiastic when he was explaining why we should re-elect Corzine to be our governor. He also made us laugh when he took off his jacket saying "It's a little hot in here", acknowledging that we were standing out in the heat for hours waiting to see him. Although I am usually not interested in politics, their speeches were said in a way that I could understand which made me want to learn more about different political parties and their views. Not only did I have a once in a lifetime experience to see the current president, but their words convinced me to become more involved in my county's politics.

Sitting and listening to the speakers at the PNC arena on Thursday was definitely an experience for me. There were three speakers that connected with the audience during the rally. The first speaker to be introduced to the crowd was Dana Red. She did an excellent job of gaining the crowd’s attention once she stepped on the stage. From the very beginning she showed extreme enthusiasm and energy both in her tone of voice and her body language. Once she made a good enough connection with the listeners she introduced Governor Corzine. It seemed as though Governor Corzine came out with equal if not more enthusiasm. He discussed issues such as health care, future job opportunities, and his connections with President Obama. In my opinion this was an excellent strategy for him to use in order to get people to vote for him. Every time Governor Corzine would mention President Obama it seemed as if the crowd grew more and more excited. The tone of his voice was varied, enthusiastic, and easy to listen to. Once Governor Corzine finished he introduced President Obama and the crowd went crazy. Of course when Obama spoke he immediately commanded the attention of the crowd. One of the most memorable parts of his speech was when he said “… It’s a little hot in here.” He then took off his jacket and it just seemed as though he was establishing a level of comfort with his listeners. This also served as a good ice breaker because the crowd laughed and everyone’s attention was his. During his speech he mentioned many facts about how important education was for the college student while slipping in facts about health care and the importance of voting. Not only did I take away a tremendous amount of information from this experience but this is something that I truly enjoyed and will never forget.

During the Rally for Corzine the had a lot of motivational speakers. Each speaker got up to the podium and spoke with a purpose. They had Dana Red come to be the first speaker. She summarized the topics that were later on addressed by the president and the governor by spicing it up with her own opinions which caught everyones attention. As soon as she had everyone attention and gave an over view. She rallied up the crowd by adding in Obama being by Corzine's side for a relection. Then as Obama came out and capitalized on Corzine he had some interesting points. He protected fundings on New Jersey schools and made the standards more harder. He also extended childrens health insurance to 80,000 more children all over the United States. When I heard those key points that made me feel really good about the direction of our nations future for us and the kids to come because not only do we have a good plan to help parents that struggle raising children that have low income by providing them with health care. We have a president that will go out of his way to make sure that the people all over the country will have a chance to succeed.

On July 16, 2009 I had the privilege to see the current governor John Corzine and our president Barack Obama. The day started with Dana Redd introducing the rally. In her speech, we heard her opinion about the re-election on John Corzine. She talked about Barack Obama and John Corzine’s ideas on reform. Dana had such an outgoing tone to her voice that it caught everyone’s attention. Dana than introduced the Choir which brought life to the rally. Afterwards, current Governor Corzine came out and spoke about his plans on helped the state of New Jersey through the recession. He explained his thoughts and plans to make a difference for the Garden State. The president of the United States, Barack Obama took the show without a doubt. Most of us, as well of the audience were there to see our president. Having Obama at the rally bought the rally to the right side of the court. President Obama talked about his health care plan. To him it is very important to cut down the cost of it and have everyone insured. He said he would not stop trying till he sees a difference. Obama is one of the best public speakers I’ve ever met and I say met because luckily I was able to meet him. He kept his eyes on his audience and never lost focus. He looks comfortable and knows exactly what he is talking about. As a college student I feel like I should get involved with politics more. I sure listened when he talked about health care because its one of the most important issues in America today. Although I don’t necessary feel like John Corzine has done a great job as governor, he did a good move in bring President Obama to talk in his rally. I really enjoyed all the speeches. It was one of the best experiences ever.

On June 16, 2009, I was able to attend an event located at the PNC Arts Center. I was able to see and hear two essential individuals, the Governor of New Jersey, John Corzine and the President of the United States, Barack Obama. Meanwhile, Dana Red got the audience ready for their events. She questioned the audience and amiably allowed for us to shout as part of the excitement. Both of these individuals mentioned the lack health care the Americans are experiencing. Barack Obama speech capture the audience attention through the distinctive voice tones he used and “jokes” he mentioned. Each speaker introduced one another. Dana Red introduced John Corzine and he, John Corzine introduced Barack Obama. During their introduction they seemed enthusiastic, especially Barack Obama. Carefully hearing Barack Obama in this rally allowed for Americans to understand why he became the President of the United States. He mentioned some of our current issues such as education, the lack of health care for Americans, home foreclosure, and how New Jersey has the hates rates of students how can read and rate. Obama stated, “We’re moving in a new direction, laying down a new foundation, and giving people of all colors a chance to a better life.” Obama also used credibility by using examples such as the woman who had breast cancer. Overall, the rally and the speeches were great and it definitely gave me the opportunity to have a greater interest in politics.

At the PNC Bank Arts Center, there was a rally held for Jon Corzine and Barack Obama. There were three speakers; first was Dana Red. Dana Red’s purpose was to get the crowd excited and informed about why they were there and what they were about to listen to. In my opinion, her speech was not that interesting. At some points she was engaging to the crowd and getting them hyped for Corzine but at other moments I found myself thinking about when she was going to be done so Corzine can come up. She did have good stance and she was knowledgeable about what she was talking about. The ending of her speech, which was to get the audience excited for Corzine, was good because she did what she was suppose to do.

Jon Corzine was a good speaker. He definitely had eye contact with the audience and he definitely got the crowd active. He informed them about his campaign and what he has been doing and what he feels still needs to be done. I think because he is in the election that it was even more important for him to engage the audience because he needed the people there on his side. He needed to get the people to listen, understand and believe in what he was saying. There were moments when his voice boomed through the microphone and usually those were the times were the audience cheered and clapped for what he was saying. At the end Corzine had to leave get the audience excited for Barack Obama, which he definitely did because the crowd went wild.

Barack Obama was the final speaker at the rally. From the very start he had the audience’s attention. Obama had a very strong and confident voice. He was very personable with the crowd. By him mentioning how hot it was and taking off his jacket it made him seem more relatable and in the same boat that we were in. It also evoked a round of laughter from the crowd. The great thing about Obama as a public speaker is that he knows how to joke with the crowd and then he also knows when to get serious and start stating the facts. Obama mentioned the plans for health care. He also mentioned the education and medical problems that people were struggling with today. With the health care, he gave an example of a woman who had breast cancer but didn’t have the right health care to over her bills.

All in all, I think the three speakers did an excellent job. They all worked together and gave a speech that would have lasting impression on anyone who attended the Rally. However, I think the most memorable thing about that day was the unbearable heat.

During the presentation at the Barack Obama, Jon Corzine, and Dana Red rally I was captured by the memorable speeches. This was my first time ever seeing a president live and I was star-strucked. What really grabbed my attention was the powerful words and that I could relate to everything they talked about. President Obama and Jon Corzine both made their speeches easy to understand and applied their past experiences to the average people in the audience. I did not feel as if I could not understand and I liked how they made me feel like I almost knew them. It was a very hot day outside when President Obama made his speech, he ened up telling the audience that he was hot and proceeded to remove his suit jacket. He knew it was hot and he decided to appeal to the audience by relating to the heat outside. Jon corzine also made me feel comfortable in his speech by talking to us all as if he knew each one of us personally. His tone was very conversational and casual. Overall I enjoyed all of the speaker's presentations and now know that they are regular individuals just like us because of the mood set in their speeches. Milana Hunter

Pro. McManimon I had problems with the blogger. The rally was a very memorable moment for the EOP students and other spectators. Dana Red, Governor Corzine and President Obama were our three speakers. Dana Red was a very enthusiastic speaker. She did a great job introducing the other speakers by connecting with the audience. There were a lot of young, college kids so she connected with us by saying, “I’m so glad to see so many new and young faces.” It was a good thing that she went first because she was an attention grabber for the next two people. The next speaker was Governor Corzine. Governor Corzine mostly talked about President Obama but that was the strategy he used to get people to vote for him. He talked about how important it is that our Governor has a connection in the White House and how this will help us a lot in the future; Corzine even called him a friend. He also connected very well with the audience, he started off with ,“Hello New Jersey!” which of course made the listeners applaud and cheer him. He was also very thankful for everyone that was there and even said, “God Bless you all”. Last but not least was President Obama, who was obviously the start of the show. Everyone was extremely excited to see him and he got the loudest cheer. It is very obvious to see why he was elected president; he is an extremely great speaker. He was very comfortable with the people. When he first started he said it was little hot and took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves. This made him very human to us because it was extremely hot. He had great control of the hand gestures, he got aggressive when he wanted to get his point across and gentle when he was talking about more “to the heart” subjects. Over all, this was a once in a lifetime experience and I’ll always be telling people about seeing the first black president in person.
